
Yesterday, March 9th, 2025, Pece Primary School playground, home to the Gulu City Volleyball Club’s training grounds, was abuzz with excitement as three ladies team teams gathered to compete in a friendly volleyball tournament. The event was held in celebration of Women’s Rights Day.
The tournament featured Gulu University Volleyball Team, Gulu School of Clinical Officers aka Gulu SOCO, and Gulu City Volleyball Club. The teams showcased their skills, with Gulu City Volleyball Club emerging as the overall winner.
In the first match, Gulu City Volleyball Club dominated Gulu SOCO, winning 3:0. Gulu University also started off well with a convincing 3:0 win against Gulu SOCO.Their winning streak was however cut short after a defeat to Gulu City Ladies 3:2 in their second game as well as 3:1 in the final match.
The tournament was a resounding success, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and women’s empowerment. The event drew a sizable crowd, with spectators cheering on their favorite teams.
As the winning team, Gulu City Volleyball Club took home the top honors, with Gulu University and Gulu SOCO finishing second and third, respectively.
The tournament organizers expressed their gratitude to the participating teams, officials, and spectators for making the event a memorable one. The celebration of Women’s Rights Day through sports reinforced the importance of promoting equality, inclusivity, and empowerment for women in all aspects of life.
